Airtel to offer voice call too on 4G network

Airtel will also provide voice service on its 4G network. It is generally meant for data only services but Airtel is enabling voice calls too on the network by implementing fit technologies. Information Week India informed that Airtel has plans to depute Circuit Switched Fall Back technology (CSFB), which can transfer users to 3G or to 2G network during video or voice calls. Since Airtel is well accepted service provider in India, the new step taken by it is appropriate. Trial runs of the service have already started in the three metros, where its LTE network is at work. Airtel as of now is at a vantage point to utilize this technology. Its competitor Reliance Industries Limited will use ‘voice over LTE’ technology, being similar to making VolP calls. Here users will be allotted specified numbers just like mobile call. As Reliance does not posses 2G or 3G network in India, so they can’t use the CSFB technology. Well, it has advantage having PAN India 4G spectrum. No other service providers have been licensed so. Other service providers in the race are Tikona and Aircel. Tikano is a data service provider, while Aircel has the same ability like Airtel, and it is capable of deploying CSFB technology.
