Acer adds a coat of touch to Aspire R7 and Aspire E1 notebooks

For IFA, Acer didn’t showered all of its love to the its flagship phablet Liquid S2 and mid-segment Iconia A1 tablet, it also refreshed its notebooks. The notebooks now come with touchscreen interface allowing users to enjoy the touch centric features, which they’ve become habitual of using in handheld devices. The notebooks are also powered by the Intel’s latest 4th generation Haswell processors ensuring efficient power and optimized battery life. Let’s see which devices got the update-

Acer Aspire R7

Since the unveiling of Aspire R7 in May, the notebook is earning praises for its thoughtful hybrid design. In short, the device is capable of not just one or two, but four different modes! Normal Mode and Tablet Mode enables the user to use it as simple notebook or a Tablet, whilst Display Mode allows users to dock the display to enjoy watching movie and Ezel Mode hinges the screen with keyboard in such manner that it can be used as a proper desktop. Another unusual design change in the device is the placement of touchpad above keyboard.

For making the most of the touchscreen, Acer ships the notebook with Active Pen enabling users to unleash their creativity while drawing and have greater accuracy while writing. Similar to concept of S-Pen of Galaxy Note series, the pen allows application of varying pressure levels for different strokes and writing. The pen can can be used along with gesture controls, which means users can pinch to zoom the image while editing with the pen.

Acer has added slew of apps such as Acer MemoryBinder, ScreenGrasp, ScrapBoard and AccuFinger to the notebook. MemoryBinder allows user to edit pictures by adding paint brush effects or colors with the help of pen. ScreenGrab as the name tells takes the screenshot and allows its modification, which can also be shared over social networks. ScrapBoard is used for collecting various images or ideas at one place for a project. AccuFinger allows accuracy on the touchscreen to acquire even the tiny items present on the screen.

Aspire E1 is the budget laptops from Acer and now they will comes with 10 point multi-touch display with Full HD resolution in 14” and 15.6” models. The models offer choices in terms of colors as well as configuration-

Pricing and Availability

Acer Aspire R7 will start retailing at 399 euros from Q4 2013 in Europe, Middle East and Africa. Whereas, Acer Aspire E1 will be available for sale from mid-October with pricing of 399 euros.
