Android device maker Zync, has announced the launch of the Cloud Z401 Android smartphone for the Indian market. Priced Rs.4499, Zync Cloud Z401 is targeted as an entry level smartphone. Though it has been available purchase through online stores for quite some time now, the official launch of the device has just been announced.
While most features of the phone are quite decent for entry level segment, but the adoption of the older Google Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system, is a bit of a let down.
The Zync Cloud Z401 is built around a 4 inch multi-touch, capacitive input based display with a resolution of 480 x 800 pixels. For processing, it utilizes a 1 GHz single core processor along with 256 MB of RAM. It comes with 128 MB of internal storage that is further expandable up to 32 GB via microSD cards. The phone sports a 2 MP rear and a VGA resolution front facing camera.
“After seeing the success of the low cost tablets, we have decided to extend our footprint in the low cost smartphone category as well. This category has great untapped potential and just like our tablets, we plan to offer maximum features at a very affordable price to appeal to our value conscious Indian consumers,”
Amul Mohan Mittal, Co-Founder, Zync Global.
Presence of Android 2.3 and only 256 MB RAM makes it a quite outdated device. In case you are looking for a phone in sub-Rs 5,000 price range, you might also want to consider Samsung’s entry level devices like Samsung Galaxy Star
or Samsung Galaxy Pocket
which re available at a similar price point and offer better hardware specifications too.
