Sony’s much awaited flagship device for the year, the Xperia Z, is all set to be officially launched in India on 6th March, 2013, as per an announcement on Sony Mobile India’s Facebook page. They have updated their cover photo on Facebook to read – “Everything is about to change – 06/03/2013”, with an image of the Xperia Z on the backdrop.
The Android 4.1 JellyBean operating system based Xperia Z is currently available in the grey market for Rs. 47,000. Hopefully, the price of this extraordinary device will beat the grey market rates by a huge margin.
The Xperia Z can be called the superman smartphone. The device is waterproof, dustproof, scratch resistant and shatter resistant, making this device impervious to most obvious types of damages.
The device has a 5-inch full HD capacitive touchscreen display with resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels and 441 ppi pixel density. The Xperia Z has a Reality Display feature that is powered by Mobile Bravia Engine 2. It is powered by a 1.5 GHz Quad-core Krait Processor with 2GB of RAM.
The device has a 13MP rear camera with LED Flash, Geo tagging, Autofocus and Image/Video Stabilization. It also has a 2.2MP front camera for video calls and self portraits. The device has 16GB internal memory which can be expanded up to 32GB via Micro SD card. The device is powered by a 2330 mAh battery.
The device was first revealed at the CES 2013 and features some of the latest features such as 4G LTE, NFC and Android Jellybean’s Project Butter and Google Play. The company also released the Xperia Z Tablet which has similar features as the smartphone.
