Samsung Galaxy S8 could be bundled with an external stylus

“Prototypes of the Galaxy S8 featured an integrated stylus, but the brand reportedly decided against it”

Earlier this week, a report from Samsung’s home country of South Korea had suggested that the company would launch the Galaxy S8 in two size variants – 5-inches and 6-inches. The larger model of the phone is rumoured to be called the Galaxy S8 Plus. Now a fresh report suggests that the brand may offer the S Pen stylus as an external accessory, possibly to be used with the Galaxy S8 Plus.

So far, the S Pen has been exclusive to the Samsung Galaxy Note line up. However, it appears that with the Galaxy S8, the brand will make it available for more of its smartphones. The report claims that the prototypes of the Galaxy S8 did have an integrated stylus, but the company decided against it.

While some reports suggest that Samsung might axe the Note lineup after the Galaxy Note7 explosions, the brand could just be adding S Pen support for the Galaxy S8 since there might not be a new Note phablet for at least a year.

In related news, a separate report suggests that Samsung is planning on extending the services of its AI-powered assistant to all native apps that will be available on the Galaxy S8. The assistant will be allegedly dubbed Bixby, and will likely replace S Voice with a more powerful, intelligent assistant. The Galaxy S8 is expected to be unveiled at a standalone event next April in New York.
