The Mobile World Congress is an interesting event that has witnessed the launch of a fresh tablet from Samsung and new Android handset from Huawei. The event observed 1,500 exhibitors at the annual event in Barcelona. Samsung‘s tablet is designed with a 21.3 cm screen with a resolution of 189 pixels per inch making it a bigger than even Apple’s bestselling iPad Mini. Huawei Ascend is designed with 4.7in screen with 315 ppi and 13 megapixel camera. The Chinese company announced that the Huawei would be fitted with a Magic Touch similar to the design of Nokia Lumia 920. Samsung’s Galaxy Note 8.0 is being promoted on a multi-task level operating on two apps in split-screen mode and can function as alternative to the typical pen and paper model, contributed by the S Pen. The South Korean company announced that the pen is extremely light that it can be held in one hand and can be employed to make calls. According to information from research firm IDC, Samsung has earned the prestige of being the world’s most successful device manufacturer with 21.2% shipments during the October-to-December period. Samsung contributed to amazing profits in the tech industry due to the introduction of smartphones and in the tablet category, Samsung stood second with 15.1% market share next to 43.6% from Apple. According to Ben Wood, head of research at CCS to BBC, ‘’The Note 8 represents Samsung’s desire to power the tablet market from Apple but also defend from Kindle Fire and Nexus7.’’ According to Huawei the Android-powered Ascend P2 is the world’s powerful and fastest smartphone with an LTE Cat 4 chip that enables 4G downloading speeds at a rapid pace of 150 megabits per second. The device is equipped with NFC (near field communication) chip that supports wireless payments and is slender that can measure 8.4mm thick. The Galaxy Note 8.0 is rolled out in Europe, South Korea, China and a few other countries in the April-to-June period.
