Handset major Nokia has launched the 8GB version of its music oriented X6 mobile phone in India. Priced at Rs 14,499, the phone features 8GB of built-in memory. However, just like its elder sibling X6 16GB, it does not have an external microSD slot. This implies that the memory is not expandable. Nokia had launched the 16GB version of the phone, earlier, which retails for Rs 15,500.
Barring the difference in memory, the 8GB version is identical to the 16GB version of the phone and features the same 3.2 inch capacitive touchscreen, Symbian S60 5th edition OS, 3G connectivity, Wi-Fi, UPnP support, a 5 mega pixel camera with Carl Zeiss optics, video recording at 30 fps. The phone runs on a 434 MHz ARM 11 processor and sports 128 MB of RAM. At a cost difference of just Rs 1000, the 16GB version is a better proposition.
For now, the phone is available at all Nokia priority dealers, across the country and will be available at other dealer outlets later.
Nokia also offers a 32GB version of the phone in some overseas markets.
