The Taiwanese smartphone manufacturer, HTC is planning to introduce sub-INR 10,000 smartphones in the emerging markets like India soon. Company noted this to media at an event in Kolkata that it is planning to target large consumer base by offering smartphones in affordable prices for budget conscious buyers.
“There is a business case for launching sub-Rs 10,000 handsets. This is targeting emerging markets like India, Indonesia and China,”
said HTC country head Faisal Siddiqui in that event to media. However, he did not reveal the exact release date as well as the devices to be launched in the budget segment but company is planning to increase its market share in India to 15 percent, so it looks like new phones below Rs. 10,000 are coming soon to the market.
It will be the first time when the Taiwanese smartphone manufacturer will release devices below this price point in the country. Currently it is having more than 10 products in the Indian market priced between Rs. 12,000 and Rs. 51,000.
Company is planning this all under a multi-fold strategy which will help it to achieve the goal of 15 percent share in the Indian smartphone market by ramping up its distribution network and by providing better service support to give strength to its foothold in the fast growing smartphone market of the country.
In related news, company is planning to release the HTC One Mini
smartphone in India and the phone is listed on its official website in the country. HTC Desire 500 is also expected to arrive soon with the price tag of Rs. 14,999 and it is already listed at one online retailer.
