The much anticipated smartphone from Taiwanese mobile giant HTC has now officially paved its way after all the rumors and speculations. Here the anticipation was more about whether this trimmed version of HTC One will live to the expectation of the highly acclaimed predecessor and deliver something new. By launching this miniature version HTC has followed the steps of its competitor, Samsung. Samsung earlier has launched the mini version of their highly popular device, Samsung Galaxy S4. HTC One Mini comes with a little stripped features as compared to its elder sibling.

Design and Display
HTC One Mini sports a 4.3-inch high-resolution 720p display with a pixel density of 341 ppi. The screen is apt for holding and typing from one hand and surely passes the ergonomics. In terms of design, HTC has continued with the aluminum back and aluminum covers on the front speakers. Whereas the sides have been degraded in terms of quality as plastic trim has been used instead of aluminium. The design change also include relocation of the LED flash, which is now present on top of the camera lens.
Software Features
This device runs on latest Android v4.2.2 Jelly Bean and will support all the applications available in Google’s Play store. This latest version of Android comes with an all new redeveloped camera application and faster speed than the Android v4.1. Moreover system throughput has vastly been improved and switching between home screens seems to be very smooth.
Hardware Features
HTC has powered this smartphone with a Dual Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor that clocks 1.4 GHz and 1GB of RAM. HTC has definitely compromised with the RAM. 1 GB Ram is not promising enough to run heavy games and applications, that too at 720p display. For an Android powered, 720p display smartphone, 2GB Ram is vital according to the system and applications demand. Low RAM will ultimately lead to lags in between the running applications which will surely not impress the user.
Camera and Battery
The 4.0MP Ultra Pixel camera with an LED flash and HDR video capture perform brilliantly in Daylight. In Low light the performance needs further improvement. HTC has continued with its Ultra Pixel camera technology in One Mini which comes from its predecessor. To serve the purpose of video calling, a 1.9MP front camera is provided with BSI sensor and 720p video capture. For a prolong usage One Mini is supported by a non removable Li-Ion 1800 mAH battery. In terms of battery power we can view a drastic deterioration when compared to HTC One.
Verdict
This downsized device is loaded with some brilliant features such as a rich and vivid display, BoomSound stereo speaker from Beats audio, Ultra Pixels camera technology and latest Android version. But performance wise this device has been stripped of the Quad Core processor and 2GB RAM. Moreover it will only be available in a single memory variant of 16GB, without any option for expanding it through an external microSD card. Multimedia lovers will face a tough time using this device as the memory constraint will always hover over their mind. In terms of competition, this device will lock its horns with Samsung Galaxy S4 mini. HTC will definitely try to encash the success of HTC One from this miniature version . Customers who were not able to lay their hands on the HTC One considering the price factor, will certainly have their eyes on HTC One Mini.
