“We take a look at the best affordable selfie smartphones”Smartphones these days come loaded with processors featuring eight or ten cores, and up to 6GB of RAM, but the one aspect where they fail to impress most buyers is in the camera department. Sure, spending upwards of Rs 40K could get you a capable pocket shooter but not everyone is willing to spend a premium on a device which will eventually get outdated in a year or two. With selfies being all the rage these past few years, smartphone manufacturers have had to tailor their devices to come with not just a good rear camera, but an equally capable or better front-facing shooter. If you are in the market for a smartphone that will help you capture that perfect selfie without burning a hole in your wallet, we have rounded up some excellent choices for you to consider. So without any further ado, let’s jump right in.
OPPO has been on the forefront of the selfie revolution in smartphones and already has three devices catering to the selfie-driven audience. The latest addition to the company’s selfie expert series has been dubbed the F1s and brings a 16MP front-facing shooter and a 13MP rear camera to the table. No, you haven’t read it wrong – the front camera on this phone is actually more powerful that the primary snapper. Owing to the huge 16MP sensor upfront, the F1s is able to capture some incredibly good stills even in low-light conditions, making it the ideal selfie companion. The software additions such as Face Beauty 3.0 technology allow users to get more out of the front camera too. The rest of the specs of the device include an octa-core MediaTek MT6750 chipset aided by 3GB of RAM. The smartphone packs a 3,075mAh battery and sports a 5.5-inch full HD display, which makes it a decent all rounder as well.Related read: OPPO F1s review
While it is common for smartphone vendors to equip their devices with a rear-facing LED flash, Gionee went above and beyond to deliver a great selfie experience to its users by furnishing its S6s with a flash on the front. This gives the S6s a huge advantage over competition as the smartphone eliminates the need for a well-lit environment to click selfies. The smartphone doesn’t lack in other departments either and is powered by an octa-core MediaTek 6753 chipset with 3GB of RAM working in tandem. The S6s comes with 32GB of internal memory with room for expansion up to 128GB via a microSD card and draws its fuel from a 3,150mAh battery. Interested buyers will have to shell out about Rs 15K for the smartphone.

On the other hand, the primary camera of the smartphone has a smaller 13MP sensor which also has a separate LED flash. Shedding some light on the rest of the specifications of the device, the 5.5-incher comes with an HD resolution display and is powered by an octa-core MediaTek 6750 SoC.
